Screenpresso 2.2.0
Benoist Jamin2026/02/20
Important information
This release now requires Windows 10.0.20348, released on May 24 2021, or above to run.
If you have an older version of Windows you must stay on your current version of Screenpresso.
Enhanced screenshot engine
The captures are now based on the graphic card (GPU) instead of the CPU. Performances are better and it uses less memory. We have studied the market and are proud to say Screenpresso now has the best capture engine of the world!
If you click on a window instead of drawing a selection rectangle manually, it now captures as it exactly looks. If the window is shaped (e..g round) then it is captured as a rectangle with transparent corners, and so, will look nice when you paste it, for instance in an e-mail.
A round window example as it appears on the desktop:

When HDR is enabled for a screen, a screenshot was overly bright. This is now fixed. This features is available to users both for screenshots and for video recording.
The magnifying glass displayed during a screen capture is now bigger for an easier use of it. By the way, remember you can use the arrows keys to move your mouse slower and make a precise selection.
We added a setting for Screenpresso to automatically hide all your desktop icons during each capture for clean results.
Oh also, you can still request Screenpresso via its settings to also change your desktop's wallpaper during the capture.
Via settings you can request Screenpresso to detect sensitive areas of your captures to automatically blur them. This includes e-mails, credit cards, IP adresses and API keys. This feature is available to PRO users both for screenshots and for real time video recording. Later, using the built-in image editor, it is possible to manually remove blurs if you changed your mind.
Since this third party tool was using components often reported as unsecure, we prefer to remove it and use only the Microsoft Windows' built-in OCR.
Enhanced video capture engine
The captures are now based on the graphic card (GPU) instead of the CPU. Performances are better and it uses less memory. Screenpresso now supports 4K video at 60 FPS with high quality (pro). You can change the setting to choose between low quality smallest file size, or high quality.
You may have noticed Screenpresso is the only Windows software in the world allowing GPU based video recording across multiple screens. The other tools are limited to one screen at once.
You can now record video using the new HEVC codec. This generates smaller mp4 file with highter quality, but is less compatible with every computers. It is disabled by default but you can quickly enable it via the settings.
You can now automatically generate subtitles from your voice during the video recording. Once enabled via the Screenpresso settings and the Microsoft Windows' privacy settings, your voice will be listen, only during the video recording, to generate text. The subtitles are saved in a ".srt" file next to your new ".mp4" file so you can edit it later using a simple text editor like Microsoft Notepad. In the end, you can choose to share both your mp4 and your srt files, or, using the built-in video editor, merge the srt file as a new subtitle track inside the mp4 file. It is great to share only one file but once merged you cannot modify the subtitles anymore.
We have improved the microphone recording quality to 48000Hz mono and audio loopback (what you hear in the speakers) to stereo. We also added a basic noise gate to reduce noises recorded by the microphone. We also have increased the list of suported microphones' types.
It was awaited for a long time, the Webcam is now mirrored! If you move your head to the right, it moves to the right in the video. Before it was moving the reverse because your Webcam device is looking at you on the other side...
We have replaced the elipse shape to a lovely vertical rounded shape. By the way, the Webcam also features a whole new engine based on the graphic card (GPU).
Removed support for avi recording and updated FFmpeg to the latest version 8.0.
Artificial Intelligence (pro)
We are very proud to announce Screenpresso is the very first screen capture software to include Google Gemini AI.
Using the built-in image editor you can now ask to modify your screen capture as you want.
Sharing changes
Previously, the authorization token would expire quickly. Now it works lifetime and if you want to deny access to Screenpresso after you gave it authorization, you must use your Cloud provider's console.
On some secured computers in companies, Screenpresso could not access the Internet because of a proxy issue. Now it works :)
Removed build-in support of Evernote and Twitter
Updated AWS SDK, Google SDK and SSH libraries ot the latest versions
Workspace changes
For instance if you selected image 2, holded the Shift key, then clicked the image 6, all images where selected instead of images from 2 to 6. This was a very old bug and we are very proud to have found the solution.
When you drag an image from the workspace to another app (e.g. to the Windows's file explorer or to Google Chrome), the image's thumbnail is displayed instead of a small basic icon. This is better look and feel.
When the user (you) closes his laptop, Screenpresso could be put to a sleep mode by Windows. When the computer was restarted, Screenpresso asked to save changes in the still opened image editor windows. Clicking "Cancel" button would avoid Screenpresso to exit but put it in an unstable mode and would crash later. This is now detected and Screenpresso saves all changes and restarts itself when it occurs.
Privacy
We are evolving Screenpresso to be an even more secure app. To achieve this it now uses the new Microsoft Window's API that requires the user to authorize the used feature one by one. Soon, Windows will ask you to authorize Screenpresso to take screen captures, acces your files, your microphone, webcam, and so on, to make sure your privacy is respected.
For the IT, we remind you that Screenpresso already provides "policies". It is possible via the Windows' registry to disable any unwanted feature. Please refer to the user manual (press f1 key from Screenpresso to open it).
More to come soon. Meanwhile, enjoy Screenpresso!!!
